Our vast area, colloquially known as Almaguin or “the Highlands”, covers approximately 8000 sq kms (3000 sq miles)and stretches north from Muskoka to Lake Nippissing. In the East, Almaguin borders Algonquin Park, Ontario’s largest and oldest Provincial Park. To the west is the Parry Sound district and Georgian Bay. The area is made up of 18 distinctive municipalities that encompass many small towns, villages and hamlets. Anchored by the rugged Canadian Shield the area is a magnet for tourism and boasts wide open spaces, mixed woodlands, rolling hills and hundreds of unspoiled lakes and rivers. Just a short 2 ½ hour drive from Toronto the area has room to grow and is an affordable place to retire, vacation or locate a business.

about the area
“While the Almaguin Highlands does not have the developed tourism infrastructure of some other popular areas, it is precisely this sense of discovering new things that is part of the region’s unique charm. Almaguin is a place to seek adventure and new experience, and hide from the crowds and fast pace found elsewhere.”
